The ingredients needed to make Idli:
Take 1/2 cup Urad dal
Get 2.5 cup Idli rice/White rice
Make ready to taste Salt
Take Poha (optional) (1/4 cup)
Take Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tspn
Take Dry yeast (needed in cold country)
Prepare Fermenting and steaming steps
Get Wash and soak urad dal and rice
Make ready (6 hours)
Get Grind dal,rice,fenugreek seeds (add yeast and salt) mix well
Take Set the grinded/blended smooth batter aside in warm place
Prepare Let it ferment and rise for 8 to 14 hours(depending the weather)
Get (The batter need to ferment untill it rises)
Prepare On a high flame, bring water to boil in an idli steamer pot
Prepare Mix the idli batter gently
Make ready Pour into the batter into greased tray
Get Cover the pot with lid
Prepare Let the idly steam for 10 minutes
Take Once done, Remove the idly trays
Take Let it cool down for 1 minutes
Take With a help of a spoon remove idli from the tray
Instructions to make Idli:
Soak & Grind urad dal & rice into a smooth batter
Ferment for 8 to 14 hours. Let it rise. Steam idlis. (8 minutes per tray), (i used steamer sheets)
Idli can be served with any curry or chutney
