  1. Get 2 large onions, diced
  2. Take 1 Green pepper, diced

  6. Make ready 2 (400 g) each) tin of kidney beans, drained
  7. Prepare 2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander

  10. Prepare 2-4 tsp hot chilli powder, depending on preference
  11. Prepare 6 tbsp tomato puree
  12. Prepare 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  13. Prepare 3 tsp ground cumin
  14. Take 650 g mince beef
  15. Take 3 tins (400 g) each) of chopped tomatoes
  16. Prepare 2 tsp sugar
  17. Take 500 ml beef stock
  18. Make ready Salt to taste
  19. Prepare Ground black pepper to taste
Instructions to make Chilli on a Budget:
  1. Heat the olive oil over medium heat. Then add the garlic, cumin, ginger, chilli powder and coriander. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add the mince to the pan and brown evenly. Next add the onions, peppers and mushrooms. Cook for 5-8 minutes or until the vegetable have softened.
  3. Add the kidney beans and cook for a few more minutes. Then add the tins of tomatoes and stir to combine.
  4. Lastly add the beef stock, sugar and tomato puree. Season with salt and pepper. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 60-90 minutes on low. Stir occasionally.
