  1. Take 1.5 cup leftover fermented batter (idli/dosa)
  2. Prepare Sautรฉ
  3. Take 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  4. Prepare 1 tsp mustard seeds
  5. Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
  6. Prepare 1 inch piece ginger deskinned and grated
  7. Take Urad dal optional

  10. Prepare 1/4 cup Cilantro
  11. Take 2 Green chillies chopped
  12. Prepare 2 tablespoons Coconut flakes
  13. Make ready 1 tsp black pepper crushed

Either you can use non-stick appe pan or iron appe pan. Kuzhi paniyaram is very easy to make if you leftover idli batter at home. I just add the onions, spices etc in the batter and make them with the leftover idli batter. From the leftover batter I had, I made these Masala paniyaram as well as sweet paniyaram.

Instructions to make Painyaram from leftover batter:
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the ingredients. Roast until golden brown.
  2. Take a paniyaram pan and coat with sesame oil to make it non- stick..
  3. Add the sautรฉd ingredients to the leftover idli/dosa batter. Mix well. Pour into paniyaram pan and fill up 3/4th the pan. Let it heat.
  4. When the edges start to turn golden; flip the paniyarams and let them con on the other side too for avoid 4 minutes.
  5. Once done, serve with sambar and/ or chutney.

I just add the onions, spices etc in the batter and make them with the leftover idli batter. From the leftover batter I had, I made these Masala paniyaram as well as sweet paniyaram. These kuzhi paniyaram are made with leftover idli batter. Usually we store leftover batter in the fridge. So before making these, make sure you have taken out the batter from the fridge ahead of time and brought to room temperature.
